AI automation is already cutting thousands of customer service jobs

AI is already cutting customer support jobs at companies including Commonwealth Bank, Microsoft, Uber, and Hyatt as chat and call centers get automated.

Bloomberg says thousands of roles have been eliminated, including Microsoft reducing its support workforce from 50,000 to 40,000. Analysts now expect AI to affect nearly half of customer service jobs by 2030, with outsourced markets likely to take the biggest hit.
