Render open-sources an MCP server for deploys, logs, metrics, and Postgres

ojus_render · reddit · 2026-07-28

Render’s official open-source MCP server now exposes deploys, logs, metrics, and read-only Postgres access.

The server can create web services, static sites, cron jobs, Postgres databases, and key-value instances; inspect deployment history; trigger deploys; search logs by resource and severity filters; query CPU, memory, latency, bandwidth, and connection metrics; and run read-only SQL against Render Postgres.

Render says the write surface is intentionally narrow: only documented creation, deployment, environment, observability, and data operations are executable through MCP, while broader configuration changes still require the Dashboard or API for explicit review. The post also asks infra-MCP builders how they decide what an agent may change directly versus what must go through a deliberate handoff.
