AGI will end prompt engineers and run businesses directly, says one AI commentator
TechCrunch AI · rss · 2026-07-28
The author argues that AI is improving quickly, but the real bottleneck is human adoption: today’s systems still need people to prompt them.
He predicts this changes by the end of the year with AGI, defined here as systems that can do full jobs. In that scenario, AGI agents would work directly with customers and suppliers, vibe coders and prompt engineers would disappear, and businesses would eventually be run end to end by AGI. He further claims this could replace all human workers within two to three years as AI surpasses humans across tasks.
