ARI sets minimum conditions for any U.S. frontier AI law as Congress weighs framework proposals
Miles_Brundage · x · 2026-07-28
ARI says Congress is weighing multiple federal framework proposals for frontier AI, and it has published a set of minimum conditions such a law must meet to serve the public interest.
The post argues that today’s gap is that no proposal yet requires safety practices to adequately address frontier-AI risks. It points to recent state laws, developer-authored federal blueprints, and the lack of any enforceable external standard that would prevent companies from walking back their own commitments. ARI says it will follow up with a detailed governance proposal in the coming days.
