China’s first immersion DUV line may ship 5 tools this year, hitting ASML shares
AlphaguyTrading · x · 2026-07-27
A report from The Information says a Shanghai state-backed company has begun manufacturing immersion DUV lithography tools in China.
Key points in the post:
- the company reportedly plans to make 5 units this year and scale to about 20 units in 2027;
- the tools may be delivered to SMIC, Hua Hong Semiconductor, and CXMT;
- if production and fab integration succeed, it could start taking share from ASML’s China DUV business.
Markets quickly repriced the news: ASML fell about 6.7%, Lam Research about 6.7%, Applied Materials about 5.3%, and KLA about 5.0%. The post stresses that real substitution still depends on throughput, overlay accuracy, reliability, and maintenance, not just making the tool once.
