UC Berkeley-led paper says autonomous software development is a structural shift

Led by researchers from UC Berkeley and collaborators, the paper argues that software engineering is undergoing a structural transition rather than a simple productivity boost. It introduces a three-level autonomy taxonomy, identifies six structural shifts, lays out ten predictions for the future of software engineering, and proposes a research roadmap toward trustworthy autonomous software development.
