AI detectors may be better, but schools are more likely to misuse them

The author argues that even if pangram is the strongest AI detector available, better detectors may create a bigger governance problem: institutions will be more tempted to misuse them against students.

They say the tool also produces false positives on their own error-filled English and German, and use that as a warning that detector quality does not remove the need for careful governance.
