Half of U.S. servers may sit in tiny rooms, not giant Virginia data centers

A useful reminder that “data center” does not always mean a huge Virginia campus.
The post says more than half of U.S. servers are actually in spaces under 5,000 sq ft — office closets, factory floors, and hospital basements — and claims that over 80% of people are within a mile of the cloud right now. The quoted joke about a “mixed-use data center” in Iowa drives home how physically mundane much of the infrastructure really is.
