Author of 'Why Machines Learn' Returns to Teach Intensive AI Course

Anil Ananthaswamy, author of the book Why Machines Learn, returned to his alma mater IIT Madras as a Professor of Practice to teach an intensive introductory ML/AI course for PhD and Master's students at the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI.
Over a rigorous 10-day period, he covered not only the history and narratives of machine learning but also dived deep into the underlying math—from perceptron convergence proofs and SVMs to backpropagation, diffusion models, and LLMs—concluding with a look ahead at the future of AI.
