OpenAI chart says 43.5% of occupation-specific ChatGPT use goes beyond the user’s job

A reported OpenAI chart says 16.8% of all work-related ChatGPT messages and 43.5% of occupation-specific messages are for tasks historically associated with another occupation.
- The figure also shows 61.5% of messages are shared/generic.
- Of the remaining retained messages, 56.5% are inside/near a user’s occupation and 43.5% are outside it.
- The takeaway is that a large share of non-generic ChatGPT usage is helping users do work that sits beyond their formal job category.
