Anthropic Faces Backlash Over Its Dependence on Google’s Open Transformer Papers

Anthropic investor Bill Gurley echoed a critique that Anthropic should not ignore how much it owes to Google’s open-sourced Transformer papers.
The post argues that Google could have patented the work and pursued monopoly control, and that Anthropic’s anti-open-source posture is ironic given its own dependence on open research.
