Analyst Ben Bajarin highlighted an underappreciated dynamic: the massive AI infrastructure buildout is aligning economic incentives for grid investment in an uncanny way.
For years, grid policy experts puzzled over who would fund and maintain the low-utilization, dispatchable reserve capacity needed for high-renewables grids. Today, gigawatts of "behind-the-meter" (BTM) power built for data centers are solving this. Load growth and grid investment driven by AI are ultimately beneficial, and the market should be allowed to sort out these long-term needs.
