James Madison University is launching its Bridge2AI fellowship to create AI career pathways for rural communities:
- The program is funded by the National Science Foundation
- JMU is partnering with CGI to run the initiative
- The first cohort will include at least 24 fellows from southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee
- Participants are mostly adult learners with no prior tech background, and the goal is to help them pivot into AI-related jobs through hands-on work and industry mentoring
The university says the program is also intended to strengthen the local economy through workforce development.
