Cognition acquires Poke maker in a low-nine-figure deal to boost Devin

Cognition has acquired The Interaction Company of California, bringing its text-message assistant Poke alongside Devin.
TechCrunch reports the deal valued the startup in the low nine figures. Cognition says Poke’s interaction model and personality will be folded into Devin, while Poke will use Cognition’s models and infrastructure to become faster and more reliable.
The big strategic point is personality: Poke’s friend-like tone, slang, and humor are being treated as a product advantage that could make an AI coding assistant more engaging to use.
