A new skill cuts Claude.md clutter by 50% and audits agent instructions
iamrobotbear · x · 2026-07-27
The author built an agent-context-audit skill to clean up CLAUDE.md by about 50% and make Claude Code more reliable.
The skill can:
- detect conflicting instructions across CLAUDE.md, skills, and tools
- flag hard rules that should really be treated as judgment calls
- find documentation that has drifted away from the actual codebase
- quiz the docs to surface “gotchas” that were never written down
The post is a practical follow-up to a long article on context engineering for Claude 5 models, where the author said they removed roughly 80% of the Claude Code system prompt and learned how to structure system prompts, skills, and CLAUDE.md files more effectively.
