Nvidia shares fell nearly 2% as reports circulated that the company may backstop up to $250 billion in OpenAI compute leases tied to a $500 billion data-center project.
- The financing would not be a direct equity investment.
- Instead, Nvidia would reportedly guarantee OpenAI’s lease obligations and part of the project debt, helping SoftBank secure financing.
- The news also follows separate reporting that Nvidia is discussing up to $350 billion in financing around OpenAI.
