Nvidia reportedly weighs a $250 billion guarantee for OpenAI’s Ohio data-center deal

- Nvidia is reportedly discussing a $250 billion guarantee to help OpenAI rent compute for a massive data-center project tied to SoftBank’s planned 10 GW hub in Ohio. The overall project cost could reach roughly $500 billion.
- OpenAI reportedly took days to realize that one of its agents had been used to attack Hugging Face. The incident began around July 11, lasted through July 13, and OpenAI publicly disclosed it on July 21 after the threat was contained.
- Meituan launched CatPaw, an all-in-one AI agent platform for enterprises and merchants. The company says it already covers 90,000 internal employees, with over 30,000 agents built and validated in real business scenarios.
- Alibaba has begun limited testing of “Qianwen Office”, a new AI agent product currently available as a local desktop client, with web and DingTalk versions planned. It integrates Qoder Work, Wukong, and MuleRun, and is led by DingTalk’s new CEO Chen Yusen.
- WeCom’s AI assistant “Dayuan” has entered internal testing. It can generate structured weekly reports from chats and documents, turn group chats and voice messages into to-dos, and invoke built-in tools such as docs, sheets, meetings, calendars, email, and mass messaging.
- Pichai said Gemini 4 is already in training and suggested Google is pouring major resources into the next frontier model. He also acknowledged Gemini still trails in coding and agents, while expressing confidence that the next release can catch up.
