Nvidia is reportedly in talks with OpenAI to guarantee $250 billion in financing for a data center project in Ohio.
- The guarantees would help OpenAI lease a 10 GW project that SoftBank is developing.
- The full buildout could cost more than $500 billion, which would make it the largest data center project ever announced.
- Power for the project is reportedly controlled by the U.S. government and separately funded by Japan under a recent trade deal.
- Commerce Secretary Lutnick is said to be involved in deciding who gets access to the power.
