Grok 4.5 now runs inside Codex through a local proxy and X Premium login

A user claims you can now run Grok 4.5 inside Codex without an xAI API key, metered billing, or pay-as-you-go pricing.

The setup uses opencodex, a small local proxy that translates Codex’s Responses API into the model protocol you need. After logging in with X OAuth, the subscription you already pay for becomes the access credential. The post also includes a short setup flow and says Grok 4.5 has recently improved a lot.
