Why serious agent workflows now rely on loops and graphs, not just prompts

The author argues that while loops and graph engineering are no longer buzzwords in serious agent workflows. In a recent video-production pipeline, the agent plans shots, runs generations in parallel, tracks what is usable, retries failures, and leaves the final judgment to the human.
The key point is that “agentic” does not mean fully autonomous. The best systems keep the operator in the loop for direction and final approval, while the system handles the transitions between steps. Attempts to remove the human entirely produced unusable output.
