AI product impact is still in phase 1, according to the post: companies with distribution are using AI to move fast into adjacent problem areas and add features that once required custom software, such as clothes try-on.
The author argues the ecosystem-wide impact is not obvious yet because firms are still figuring out the playbook. Phase 2 will bring more net-new features and innovation, at which point AI’s effect on the shape of the software ecosystem should become undeniable.
