Neuromancer finally gets a screen adaptation after 40 years of Hollywood false starts

Neuromancer is finally getting a screen adaptation, decades after William Gibson wrote the novel on a manual typewriter and helped define the language of cyberpunk.
The post traces the book’s long Hollywood history: The Matrix borrowed heavily from Gibson’s ideas, multiple directors came and went over the years, and Johnny Mnemonic chilled studios on the property after its 1995 flop. It also notes that Gibson’s novel won the Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick awards in the same year — still the only novel to sweep all three.
