AMD targets humanoid robot brains with an X100 platform and 2.5× inference claims

AMD is moving into the humanoid robot "brain" market with the Ryzen AI Embedded X100, a Kria platform that combines CPU, GPU, NPU, and FPGA.
The company also announced:
- an open ROCm + ROS 2 stack
- a new Robotics Partner Network
- claimed performance of 2.5× faster inference and 3× faster training versus current NVIDIA options
Notable partners include Foundation, whose Phantom humanoid is reportedly the first partner and whose upcoming MK-2 will use X100 for perception and reasoning, while FPGAs handle real-time control and tactile feedback. Italian startup Generative Bionics is also using AMD silicon for its GENE.01.
The post adds that most major humanoid players still use NVIDIA, while in China UBTECH and MetaX (Muxi) have formed a JV to build dedicated humanoid robot chips to reduce dependence on NVIDIA, AMD, and other foreign suppliers.
