Gemini Deep Research appears to find non-indexed URLs in a real-world test

gaganghotra_ · x · 2026-07-26

The author noticed that Gemini Deep Research can surface non-indexed URLs for some clients. They tested it further by publishing a page on their own domain, confirming via Google Search Console and site: queries that it was not indexed and did not appear in normal search results.

Despite that, a generic Deep Research prompt still led Gemini to find the page. The screenshots show the URL Inspection tool reporting “URL is not on Google” and a search results page with no match, yet Gemini’s research workflow still retrieved the page. The post asks whether Deep Research is using something beyond the usual search index.
