University of Chicago Law School adds an in-person oral exam to curb LLM slop

The University of Chicago Law School is adding an in-person oral discussion to its substantial research paper requirement, starting with this year’s rising 2Ls.
The goal is to make students defend the reasoning and implications of their papers after submitting a full draft or final version. In the post, the author argues that LLMs can still be a powerful learning tool if students use them with the right incentives.
