OpenAI’s breach response is criticized for sounding like a victory lap
peterwildeford · x · 2026-07-26
A reply argues that a normal company would apologize after a breach, take responsibility, and explain how it would prevent a repeat.
It says OpenAI’s response instead sounded like: we are entering a new era, this will happen again, nobody knows whether we are safe, and we are partnering with the victim to investigate. The quoted post says that, in a negligence case like this, the absence of an apology makes the response read more like a victory lap than accountability.
