Cisco-backed post says open-source AI models create superlinear value for security

Open-source AI is described as a non-zero-sum ecosystem where each new model raises the ceiling for everyone. The author says his team at @fdtnai and @CiscoAI has open-sourced several cybersecurity models over the past two years to support the broader security community.

The accompanying image shows a signer list backing an open-weights letter, with companies and organizations such as Cisco, Hugging Face, IBM, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Perplexity, Replit, ServiceNow, and Y Combinator. The core argument is that interoperable open models create superlinear value rather than additive value.
