Waymo plans to end its Uber robotaxi deal and launch its own app in 2028

Waymo is reportedly exploring an exit from its Robotaxi partnership with Uber.
- The company has notified partners that it plans to launch service through its own app in Austin and Atlanta in January 2028.
- That move would end the exclusive collaboration in those cities, although the current fleet is expected to remain on Uber’s platform until at least May 2028 under the existing contract.
- The shift suggests Waymo is preparing to control more of its rider relationship and service distribution directly.
