AI can quietly erode agency when speed replaces review

The post argues that overusing AI can gradually erode human agency.
The author says AI can be useful when it gives different perspectives on your hypotheses and ideas, but there is growing pressure to “do more with AI.” Frontier-lab engineers and executives brag about consuming billions of tokens a day, which can create the impression that anyone not spending thousands of dollars a month is falling behind.
That pressure, the author argues, leads people to ingest an overwhelming amount of AI-generated text and code that they do not have the time or capacity to review carefully. In the worst case, they start accepting AI output by default, outsourcing critical thinking and review skills to the tool itself.
The quoted thread expands this into the idea of “AI psychosis”: smart people may confuse hallucinations with facts, become overly dependent on successful AI usage, or even develop unhealthy chatbot relationships. The common theme is that speed and volume can quietly replace judgment.
