Ecovacs opens up its embodied robot platform in Suzhou
Ecovacs has open-sourced its embodied robot platform Bajie, launching a dedicated open innovation space in Suzhou and giving developers, university researchers, students, and enterprise users free access to the system.
Key points:
- The platform includes hardware such as a 6-DoF arm, silent mobile base, two-finger gripper, UV cleaning module, and cargo tray.
- The software stack is also open, including the base system source code and built-in AI agents such as OpenClaw and Hermes.
- The robot runs on two RK3588 SoCs and can support a 7B model locally via PCI-E expansion.
- Users can interact through natural language, C++/Python SDKs, SSH/serial access, and ROS2 customization paths.
- Ecovacs says the first focus scenarios are home tasks like toy storage, shoe sorting, laundry assistance, item handing, and desk organization.
Chairman Qian Dongqi said the company prefers a non-humanoid design: the robot should be a practical tool for household work, not a human-like figure. He also argued that wheel-based movement is quieter and more energy-efficient for home use than bipedal walking.
Ecovacs is positioning the release as a long-term ecosystem move: the company believes embodied intelligence still needs broad developer participation to improve environment understanding, manipulation quality, and real-world adaptability.
