Comfy update reportedly wiped 200 GB of linked model files
luquitacx · reddit · 2026-07-25
A Reddit user reports that after a Comfy update, their drive lost about 200 GB of model files linked through a symlink, with no obvious recovery path.
The post is essentially a warning about update behavior and file handling in AI workflow tools: if your model directory is symlinked, an update may wipe what it thinks is local content.
It’s less about a new feature and more about a costly operational failure that other Comfy users would want to know before updating.
