Grady Booch says the K3 architecture suggests a familiar frontier-model pattern: agent swarms.
He compares it to IBM Watson Jeopardy, where thousands of candidate questions were generated, evidence was gathered through a UIMA-managed pipeline, and hypotheses were ranked at the end. He argues Watson lost some of its architectural advantage after commercialization reduced UIMA’s role.
His takeaway: what worked years ago in Watson looks a lot like what frontier models are rediscovering now.
