Researchers jokingly define “agentic robotics” as a term and a warning
Ken Goldberg proposes a two-part definition of agentic robotics:
- Robot systems that use AI agents in the loop for perception and control.
- Automation systems that are rapidly developed using offline AI agents.
He says Graph-as-Policy (GaP) focuses on the second interpretation.
The quoted reply pushes back with a more cynical view: the term can also become marketing shorthand for almost any robot that ships after LLMs became popular — basically, “we added an LLM and a task planner, so it’s agentic robotics now.”
