Claude Opus 5’s safeguards now make a specific exception for vulnerability discovery in source code, while still blocking vulnerability discovery in compiled binaries.
The screenshot explains the rationale: finding bugs in source code is treated as part of secure software development, and allowing it should help engineers and hobbyists write safer code. By contrast, scanning compiled binaries is more often an offensive technique, so it remains blocked.
