From Bricked to MCP: Developer Turns Dead IoT Cameras into AI Servers

A developer successfully repurposed 5 bricked Azure IoT cameras into portable MCP servers after the vendor stopped firmware support. By building a Rust-based service, these battery-powered, Wi-Fi-enabled cameras can now interact directly with LLMs.
Currently, the device supports running a small vision model to analyze physical chessboards and trigger webhooks. It also leverages its built-in microphone and speaker to enable two-way voice conversations between humans and AI agents.
