Odisha backs a $1.7B AI data center with HCLTech and Sarvam Labs

Odisha, an Indian state, has signed a deal with HCLTech and Sarvam Labs to build an AI data center inside a state sovereign AI park.
The package is reportedly worth ₹14,257 crore — about $1.7 billion — and would give the state its own frontier-scale compute footprint, which the author compares to an Ohio-style state-backed frontier lab in the U.S.
