Microsoft, NVIDIA, Meta, IBM, Palantir and other companies jointly urged Washington not to restrict open-weight models.
The letter argues that open weights are foundational to U.S. AI leadership, improve economic accessibility, strengthen competition, and can even be safer and more secure than closed systems. The signatories also warn policymakers against premature restrictions.
