Musk says OpenAI’s shift from nonprofit to closed for-profit is his core gripe with Altman

Elon Musk said his core criticism of Sam Altman is that OpenAI began as a nonprofit, open-source-oriented lab but became a large closed-source for-profit company.
He also argued that Anthropic exists because key people on the OpenAI team did not trust Altman; otherwise, they would have stayed. Musk added that, despite personal differences, he is willing to talk “for the good of the world.”
