A decision-theory result the author believed was new in 2016 turns out to have been shown earlier, in 1997 by Piccione & Rubinstein.
The attached paper excerpt discusses the multiself approach to dynamic inconsistency, the equivalence with sequential-equilibrium-style reasoning in some settings, and a revised version of the absentminded driver paradox. The author’s point is that the earlier literature already contains the relevant result.
