Math researcher says AI could erase the problem-solving core of the field

Jacob Tsimerman argues that problem-solving is the core of much modern mathematical research. If AI becomes strictly better at it and human problem-solving fades, then mathematicians may need to shift toward a very different set of activities.
He says it is unclear whether that future would still support mathematics as a professional field, and urges people to think seriously about what a viable post-problem-solving math career would look like so the transition can be guided rather than abrupt.
