Qwen Image VAE Sharp Released: Enhanced Micro-Detail and Edge Sharpness
Merserk13 · reddit · 2026-07-24
A developer released Qwen Image VAE Sharp, a refined alternative to the standard Qwen Image VAE for Krea 2 Turbo/Raw workflows. The model aims to provide a crisper, more detailed final decode without altering the original image's colors, composition, or overall character.
Key improvements include:
- Stronger fine-detail reconstruction and improved local/micro-contrast.
- Better separation and cleaner edges in hair, fabric, machinery, architecture, and backgrounds.
- Avoids the obvious look of traditional sharpening filters; available in BF16 and FP32.
For softer or more painterly work, the standard VAE is still recommended. To use the FP32 version in ComfyUI, users must start with the --fp32-vae flag.
