Bipartisan U.S. bill would let AI labs share security threat data more freely

A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers has introduced the Collaboration on Adversarial Threats and Security Risks Act, a bill aimed at helping AI labs and security researchers share information to counter distillation attacks from foreign adversaries and other frontier-AI risks.
The proposal would:
- expand information sharing on AI security threats between industry and stakeholder groups
- coordinate responses with other model developers
- include guardrails against anti-competitive behavior
- let the Attorney General seek an injunction if non-federal entities abuse the exemption
