US AI Bill Preemption Controversy: Ignoring the Word 'Model' Could Override State Laws

Discussing the preemption clause in the recent US AI bill, a commentator pointed out that its impact might be broader than it appears. They noted that if you ignore the word "model" every time it's used, the bill could arguably preempt a lot of existing state AI laws.
A policy expert agreed, suggesting that while the current version's preemption is slightly narrower than the previous one, it remains very limited in scope because the earlier version was already exceptionally narrow.
