NeurIPS Reviews Hit by AI Spam: 60% of Sampled Peer Reviews Suspected ChatGPT-Generated
graph_ · x · 2026-07-24
A user shared observations from a sample of 30 NeurIPS paper reviews, revealing that around 60% appear to be blatantly generated by ChatGPT. Additionally, roughly 20% of the submitted papers themselves are suspected to be AI-generated.
This raises significant concerns about the value of the academic peer-review system, questioning whether continuing to invest human effort into reviewing and meta-reviewing is still worthwhile when AI-generated content dominates the process.
