A leaked transcript of DeepSeek CEO Liang Wenfeng says the real gap with the US is resources, especially compute.
Liang says DeepSeek has only about 20,000 H-equivalent cards, much of it arriving only in the last 1–2 months, and that the company is expanding compute aggressively this year.
He also says DeepSeek still prefers NVIDIA chips over Chinese alternatives, and implies the company is willing to buy non-compliant chips at a premium if needed.
