OpenAI Outlines Core Capabilities and Privacy for Medical AI Assistant
thekaransinghal · x · 2026-07-24
OpenAI researcher Karan Singhal detailed the essential capabilities required for a useful health assistant. The model needs to recognize missing information, ask the right follow-up questions, communicate uncertainty clearly, avoid overconfidence, and know when to recommend professional care.
Regarding privacy, users remain in control of when ChatGPT accesses health information. All conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, with additional encryption for connected health data. This sensitive data is explicitly not used to train foundation models or target ads.
