David Sacks Calls to End 'Kimi Panic', Asserts US Frontier Models Still Lead

Incoming White House AI Czar David Sacks shared his perspective to cool down the recent industry panic over the cost advantages of Moonshot's Kimi K3. He emphasized that American frontier models remain ahead, and the gap is even larger when factoring in unreleased lab technologies.
Sacks pointed out that Kimi's apparent cost advantage largely disappears once higher token usage and the real infrastructure costs of running such a large model are accounted for. He also highlighted that OpenAI and Anthropic are generating revenue at unprecedented rates in Silicon Valley, which is the true metric for winning the market. He urged confidence in US innovation under a light-touch regulatory approach.
