Musk says OpenAI and Anthropic helped accelerate AI beyond his original intent
XFreeze · x · 2026-07-24
Elon Musk said the best we can do is reduce the chance of a bad AI outcome, but argued that stopping intelligence and robots is unrealistic.
He added that helping create OpenAI as a counterweight to Google, and later the spin-out of Anthropic, created knock-on effects that accelerated AI development — something he says was not his original intention. His conclusion: all roads seem to lead to faster AI, so people can either resist it emotionally or “join the club.”
