Patreon lays off 20% of staff as CEO says AI has changed how the company operates

Patreon is laying off about 20% of its workforce, or roughly 93 employees.

CEO Jack Conte says the layoffs are not because the company believes AI replaces humans, but because AI has "fundamentally transformed" how the tech industry works, including how teams are organized and how products are built and communicated. He says Patreon is fully embracing AI tools internally to keep serving creators.
