Open-source Image-to-3D studio gets TRELLIS.2 assets out in under 7 minutes on 6 GB VRAM
A builder says their open-source AISmith 3D studio can generate a high-quality TRELLIS.2 3D asset in under 7 minutes on a 6 GB VRAM CUDA GPU, including a consumer RTX 3060 or laptop 3070 Ti.
The project is aimed at removing the usual pain around image-to-3D workflows:
- one interface for generation, texturing, retopology, rigging, and animation
- avoids the usual ComfyUI node sprawl
- uses separate pipelines for mesh and textures to stay within VRAM while targeting 1024 high-precision quality
- integrates open-source components such as trellis.cpp, TRELLIS.2, ComfyUI-Trellis2, Blender, AutoRemesher, InteantMeshes, and Mesh2Motion
The author says the hackathon submission is already on GitHub, while more improvements will have to wait because the contest rules prohibit post-deadline updates until results are published.
